Abstract

In a context shaped by institutional instability, economic contraction, insecurity and uneven digital adoption, corporate communication becomes a strategic resource for governance, coordination and organizational resilience. This article examines how Haitian organizations structure their internal and external communication systems, use digital tools and connect communication practices to perceived organizational performance. Drawing on qualitative fieldwork conducted between January and March 2025 in ten private, public, cooperative, non-profit and non-governmental organizations, and based on twenty semi-structured interviews complemented by field observations, the study identifies four main findings: weak institutionalization of internal communication, perceived effects on cohesion and responsiveness, pragmatic but poorly governed use of digital tools, and a strong demand for professionalization. The discussion argues that communication should not be reduced to a technical function; it is a relational infrastructure, a mechanism of legitimacy and a lever for organizational learning. The article proposes an integrated model of responsible communication governance adapted to fragile contexts. It contributes to organizational communication research by combining stakeholder theory, strategic signaling, digital transformation, crisis communication and organizational resilience, while clarifying the limits of a qualitative design that does not causally measure financial performance.
